As a member of the 5-person senior executive team, Dr. Douglas Daugherty heads up global strategy, business planning, and market development within Ramboll Environment & Health. Dr. Daugherty oversees Ramboll’s two global divisions for Impact Assessment and Health Sciences and Environment & Health’s operations in Asia-Pacific, working with projects and clients around the world. Annual turnover of app. $85M USD with over 500 world-wide employees. In addition, he oversees Environment & Health’s Global Market Program including Key Accounts (e.g., Amazon, Facebook, BP, Shell, GE, etc.), Global Sectors (e.g., Data Centers/Hi-tech, Renewable Energy and Pharmaceuticals) and the four Global Services Lines of the business. He also drives Environment & Health’s overall Communication & Marketing and Innovation & Digital Transformation efforts. Dr. Douglas Daugherty has over 20 years of experience in using his cross-disciplinary background in chemical engineering and industrial hygiene to provide sound and sustainable solutions in areas such as industrial hygiene, air quality, air toxics risk assessments, emergency release, indoor environmental quality and litigation support. As Director of Strategy, Dr. Daugherty is responsible for the coordination of strategic growth for Ramboll Environment and Health in the Americas across all Service Lines and Sectors. In his Western Region COO role, he oversees operations of Ramboll Environment and Health’s US West Coast and Inter-mountain West offices.In his practice, he specializes in analyzing the impacts of air emissions and emergency releases from industrial and maritime facilities. This includes emission estimations using his chemical engineering background, dispersion modeling of both buoyant and dense gases, and the assessment of impacts of explosions and fires resulting from releases of flammable substances. Dr. Daugherty also specializes in addressing climate change/greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for port sources and other projects. He has broad experience advising and assisting facilities in a wide variety of industries with air compliance programs (both federal and state), applying exposure and health risk assessments, and providing strategic support to litigation teams.Dr. Daugherty is also the US Principal Representative by PIANC USA to its Permanent Task Group on Climate Change, Working Group 174 (Sustainability Reporting for Ports) and to Working Group 188 (Carbon Management for Port and Navigation Infrastructure, which he chairs). He works routinely with international port/maritime colleagues to develop port-sector environmental guidance documents and presents at international port/maritime conferences.
