Profile bio

About Douglas Hunter

For the past 5 years I have focused on Tech, working at CRL / Formfox as an account manager, operations manager and product owner. I find the challenges of software development fascinating as one needs to be attentive to so many different elements from the needs of the business, to technical integrations, to production schedules, to the needs of the development teams, user needs, and more. An area of particular interest within this is how software communicates with users. As someone with dyslexia, and working for a company with a very broad user base, I find myself continually thinking about and working on the ways software creates ambiguity for the user and can make their work more difficult. Or, on the other hand a successful product makes the user's work easier and faster. I think Bruce Mau got it right when he said "everything is design." This includes designing processes that make companies more effective and allow employees to be creative, getting their best ideas into the product. This also includes the products we make and how the user experiences their interaction with a product. Does using a piece of software make them feel empowered and improve, even in a small way, the quality of their life? My previous professional experience has been wide ranging from time spent as a professional rock climber, to working in Hollywood, to being an artist / photographer. These experiences all contained valuable lessons about setting goals, solving big problems, working with highly skilled people, and what great teams can achieve. Both my personal and professional endeavors have been driven by asking questions and a desire to deeply explore an area of interest. There is always more to discover and learn, always more ways to help others do their best and feel valued.
