In my time out of school I am an entrepreneur. The experience of planning out a job and making sure to have everything that is needed on the site to save time and effort has helped me in my day to day life as well as my studies. My main trade is an electrician, but I have experience in many other areas of residential construction. I have done renovations in many houses, and flipped one fully. I am experienced in wiring, plumbing, natural gas, flooring, roofing, drywall, insulation, and general carpentry. My main daily task was to read wiring and component diagrams and assemble chicken incubators. Our company bought rolls of wire, so we cut, ferruled, and labelled them. My coworkers and I worked on many different models and worked together to improve our efficiency with every new order. Wire management was a task I was often delegated to do. One of my main takeaways was how poor directions result in mistakes and slow progress. Working with the engineers to make better plans is a great way to help everything run smoother.
