I am an experienced litigator, having represented clients in intellectual property and other matters in courts across the country as both plaintiff and defendant. I have also appeared in the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). I have tried cases in both federal district court and the ITC and have argued post-grant petitions before the PTAB. I have handled and managed all aspects of litigation, including setting case strategy, preparing and reviewing pleadings and briefs, conducting fact and expert discovery, preparing witnesses, taking and defending depositions, making court appearances, including oral arguments and trials, and writing appellate briefs. I have substantial oral and written advocacy experience, including at hearings, on dispositive and non-dispositive motions, and at trial. In addition to litigation, I have assisted clients in analyzing their patent portfolios to identify their most valuable patents and in shaping claims to create a valuable portfolio. I have mediated complex litigation, negotiated settlement agreements, and successfully settled litigation. I have also resolved pre-litigation claims.My clients have included numerous software companies, telecommunications carriers, smartphone manufacturers, video game companies, and medical device companies. I also have represented both patent holders and implementers in standard essential patents disputes in the areas of 3G and 4G/LTE telecommunication standards, video and image compression standards, and inter-carrier text messaging.My goal is to help my clients solve their legal problems and manage their legal risk, so they can focus on their businesses.
