I am a professional-level bearing engineer specializing in the wind energy market. For 15+ years, I have determined the needs of and developed solutions for global wind-energy customers by partnering with technology, quality, manufacturing, product development and product management. I construct new concepts to cooperatively close gaps during production and examine root cause damage analysis to returned products to develop future innovations.I earned my BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron. After graduation, I was originally interested in the automotive industry and, I worked at LuK, USA for four years as a product development engineer designing manual transmission clutches. I joined Timken’s technology organization in May of 2000, supporting their automotive axle center and driveline applications. After two years, I transitioned to an advanced application development team where we created new products for industrial and wind-energy applications, including the Flexpin, Flex Drive, Locator bearings, and Ultrawind bearings. I’ve been helping wind turbines convert kinetic energy into renewable, mechanical power ever since.In 2003, I earned my Professional Engineer license in the State of Ohio. I worked with the IEC TC88 / ISO TC60 JWG to develop the IEC 61400-4 wind turbine gearbox design standard and have been working on a revised AGMA 6006 Wind turbine gearbox standard.Specialties: wind energy, bearings, gearboxes
