The shift supervisor, distribution operations will monitor distribution supervisory control and data acquisition alarms to determine electrical system conditions, weather conditions and work load and will determine the priority of actions to be taken to restore the distribution system to its normal operating condition.The shift supervisor, distribution operations must be able to make decisions in a real-time environment with regard to customer service, safety of the public, company and/or contractor personnel and equipment.Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)Provide supervision and oversight duties in the system operations control room on a 24/7 basis. Focus will be on the resources and information needed to safely and effectively restore the distribution system to its normal operating condition following an outage or system event.Duties will also include making sure that all shifts are covered and any additional employees needed to respond to a major event are called in to help. Shift supervisors will focus on employee safety; assist in the selection and development of employees; conduct employee counseling and motivation as needed and assist in providing performance evaluation input and salary recommendations.After-hours and on weekends, the shift supervisors will focus on a bigger-picture view of system operations where indirect supervision of transmission operators will occur.Assist with or take the lead in activities of system operations including special projects, budgeting, documentation, storm restoration, etc.
