The PCCNA (Pentecostal Charismatic Churches of North America) is a collage of more than 30 denominations that comprise 45,000 congregations in North America. The Prayer Commission seeks to bring the prayer leaders of these movements together for collaboration and teaming, resources and common cause, as well as fellowship and enrichment. In the late 90s, the Evangelism Department assigned Doug the role of consultant to prayer efforts; and in 2008, the denomination named Small as the first Coordinator of Prayer Ministries. The book, 'Prayer - the Heartbeat of the Church' was released, State Prayer Coordinators were put in place; and local churches urged to name a prayer coordinator. The Praying Church movement was launched in 2012.

The Prayer Coordinator works with Administrative Bishops, State Prayer Coordinators and local church prayer leaders. Recently, the Praying Church movement was launched which aims to train prayer learning facilitators in every state that will gather prayer leaders from local congregations quarterly to encourage and inspire them to move their prayer process forward. The movement focuses on the Church of God, but it is open to churches of all denominations. Doug produces and identifies new materials for churches in the process on a consistently basis.

Alive Ministries was created more than 25 years ago as a conference ministry, specifically focused within the Church of God (Cleveland, TN). Over the years, it has become an umbrella for a number of other initiatives and partnerships, specifically, within the prayer movement. Doug Small continues as President, but his involvement reaches to throughout the Church of God as Prayer Coordinator; National Prayer Committee; the Praying Church movement; the Community Prayer Team effort; the Billion Souls prayer initiative - and more.

Project Pray became the primary initiative of Alive Ministries in the mid-90s, when Doug became the SE USA representative for International Renewal Ministries, an outreach of Multnomah Bible College and Seminary to pastors in communities throughout the nation. Doug cast vision for pastoral prayer and unity across denominational lines and led some 150 'prayer summits' involving some 5000 pastors. Project Pray has a number of current initiatives, including, the 'Praying Church Movement' with extensive resources for congregations; the Community Prayer Leaders Network inititive; the Billon Souls prayer initiative. Project Pray is a partner in the Acts 6:4 pastor's prayer effort; the Prayer and Crisis Referral Network, and Prayerborne, an intercessors network.
