Started out from Liverpool John Moore's university with dreams of travelling the world. Then Johnston Controls made me an offer I couldn't refuse, to work on components for the Baby Jaguar Halewood plant. After a serious accident at work I took a pay cut to start working for Princes Foods in the prestigious Royal Liver building. I started out as a Stock Controller working my way up to Buyer. I noticed an opportunity to start my own business and grasped it with both hands. Milkshakes made from sweets and chocolate, Purely Wicked shakes was born. I started the business from scratch and set up as a Limited Company as a Single Managing Director. Sadly after starting to follow the usual model a business does, loss first year, break even second and start of profit year three, years four and five did not become profitable enough. I took the hardest decision of my life so far to not renew my lease and to cease trading. After taking time at home to help raise my first son Will I started back out on the road to steady employment. I joined agencies and started applying for jobs. It became clear with the state of the economy and over five years away from Buying going back to what I'd done before would be very difficult.I was then offered some agency work, a two week placement to process some orders. On turning up for a talk with the team and manager it turned out to be LEGO Education. What started out as a few weeks became months and then a one year contract, then extended to permanent and the rest is history. I now work for LEGO Education as a Customer Service Advisor. I see the role as more relationship management with UK, Scandinavian and Export Trade Partners.Ultimately I help to "enable every child to succeed" which is the main goal of LEGO Education. Working for one of the top employers in the world I have a great work and family balance. I am constantly learned and developed new skills along the way.Currently Head of Trade for CreativeHUT. Building stronger partnerships and developing Trade in UK, Europe and beyond.
