I focus my practice on patent and appellate litigation. I have represented clients in patent infringement suits in a range of technologies, from mechanical engineering to leading-edge software. I have helped clients achieve summary judgment in district court both in infringement litigation and in Hatch-Waxman litigation under the Administrative Procedure Act.I have represented clients in appeals in the Federal, Fourth, and Seventh Circuits. I have argued habeas cases before the Seventh Circuit involving Confrontation Clause and ineffective representation issues.Prior to my legal career, I worked as an engineer and manager in the software industry during the technology boom of the 1990s and early 2000s, developing award-winning educational and entertainment multimedia applications. My work included supervising the engineering of a computer version of a well-known television game show and launching the first networked version of a popular trivia game franchise.
