Dr. Kirov presented the opportunity to continue the summer's project and begin research in new areas, and I immediately accepted.- Submission of technical note presenting applications of summer project identifying image guided biopsies suitable for genetic analysis of tumor.- Extensive use of TMARKER quantifying the 3D distribution of tumor cells by assembling processed slices of biopsies. Goal is to correlate 3D distribution with autoradiography images.

This fellowship, awarded through the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, allows me to work within the nuclear medicine branch of the medical physics department at MSKCC. I research the autoradiography of biopsy specimens, based on the work of my mentor, Dr. Assen Kirov. We are applying his methodology for F-18 studies to other isotopes, and expect to see potential for improving the resolution of PET/CT scans.- Use of Monte Carlo simulations in GATE to compare with experimental data- Extensive study of applicable chapters in 'Physics in Nuclear Medicine' 4th ed. by Cherry, Sorenson, and Phelps.- Direct experience working with isotopes and radiation safety measures.- Use of MatLab to quantify digital autoradiography plate scans.
