Nationally recognized public health gerontologist and expert in Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias and scientific strategic leader. Leader for CDC’s Alzheimer’s Disease Program responsible for growing the program over 1000%, developing the first Building out Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure awards, launching 3 editions of Healthy Brain Initiative Road Maps, all to strengthen the public health infrastructure for Alzheimer’s. Dr. McGuire is a member of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act Federal Advisory Council and Editorial Board of The Gerontologist. She earned honorary Fellow Status in the American Psychological Association and the Gerontological Society of America and has published well over 100 articles and book chapters on aspects of cognition, caregiving, and aging. As a former caregiver for her mother with mixed dementia, Dr. McGuire is professionally and personally passionate about caregiving and issues related to dementia.
