Mark Stapleton, Ph.D., P.E., BCEE is a Senior Environmental Remediation Engineer at Noblis, with 30 years of combined practical experience and research in environmental engineering and restoration. He offers technical leadership and innovative solutions for complex environmental challenges, addressing contaminants such as chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, 1,4-dioxane, and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). His expertise includes site investigation, remedial system design and optimization, and performance evaluation, utilizing advanced groundwater fate and transport modeling and Environmental Sequence Stratigraphy (ESS) methodologies to enhance remediation outcomes. Currently supporting the Air Force Civil Engineer Center in San Antonio, TX, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Environment, Safety, and Infrastructure (SAF/IEE), Dr. Stapleton provides comprehensive environmental restoration strategies and litigation support. His background includes in situ and ex situ treatment technologies, groundwater assessment, and system performance optimization for contaminant mitigation. Dr. Stapleton holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Biochemistry, and Microbiology from Michigan Technological University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in nine states, a Certified Environmental Auditor, and a Licensed Professional Site Remediation Specialist (LPST Manager) in the State of Texas. He is also a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) with a specialization in Hazardous Waste and Site Remediation, certified by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. In 2002, Dr. Stapleton was elected to the Sigma Xi, Scientific Research Society and is currently a member the American Chemical Society, Society of Military Engineers and American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
