Dr. Michael A. Burts, a proud native of San Antonio, Texas, has dedicated his life to education, leadership, public service, and the advancement of law enforcement practices. With a distinguished background that spans military service, academia, and community leadership, Dr. Burts has established himself as a respected figure in his field and a role model for future generations. Before embarking on his academic and professional journey, Dr. Burts served with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps. His time in the Marines instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, resilience, and commitment to service—qualities that have become hallmarks of his career and personal ethos. This foundational experience continues to inspire his work as an educator and leader. Dr. Burts began his academic journey at Lamar University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. His passion for leadership and organizational development led him to pursue a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Our Lady of the Lake University. Recognizing the need for expertise in managing critical situations, he earned an additional Master of Science in Emergency Management. To cap off his academic pursuits, Dr. Burts achieved an Ed.D. in Leadership Studies from St. Thomas University, cementing his role as a scholar and thought leader in the field of public safety and organizational leadership. Currently, Dr. Burts serves as a faculty instructor at the San Antonio College Law Enforcement Academy, where he prepares the next generation of law enforcement professionals with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding needed to succeed in today’s complex world.
