I am leading a team that is prospecting for natural products of plants and endophytic origin with activity against Cancer and AMR pathogens-especially ESKAPE-E and MTB pathogens. We already have an extract library and an established pipeline for testing #1 and 2. We are going behold demonstrating the phenotypic effects of our treatments, to using computational approaches to establish the products targets and putative mode of action. We endeavour to create a compound library and get products/molecules that will progress from bench to shelf or bedside in the near future.We are also prospecting for immuno-modulators, with the capacity to improve hematopoiesis at stem cell-, progenitor- and mature cells stages of development. Further, we are collaborating with international players in repurposing immunotherapies against chronic diseases common in Africa with Visceral Leishmaniasis as our model.We also recognize that Africas biological ageing landscape is yet to be mapped, and are thus looking for funders and collaborators that can help us actualize this dream. Africa is not only feeling the weight of many diseases, but it's also getting older and hence there is an urgent need to answer this question on biological ageing. Your support could be the much-needed spark...I am also mentoring the next generation of African scientists at the post-graduate level through KEMRI Graduate School and Pan African University.
