PICHA stands for: Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage & Arts.I have founded the organization to help local cultural communities preserve aspects of their intangible culture. Many projects focus on the preservation of tangible culture but PICHA's focus is on the people and their living cultural heritage.In 2015, I had the fantastic opportunity to attend an anthropological fieldschool in Guatemala through NC State University. I was working with Mayan communities on the development of creative approaches to help preserve knowledge about traditional spiritual ceremonies as part of their intangible culture. We are continuing to develop a network with professionals in the creative industries, cultural research and communities who are interested in maintaining aspects of their intangible cultural heritage.
