I am currently an emergency department physician at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, CA, where I have been since 1998. I completed Emergency Medicine Residency training at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA in 1992. I then served 4 years of active duty with the USAF as an emergency room physician at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington DC. I remained active in academic Emergency Medicine, with EM Clinical faculty positions at the following medical centers: Harbor UCLA (Torrance, CA), George Washington University (Washington, DC), Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (Bethesda, MD). While in DC, I provided tactical medical support for missions with the following agencies: Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Hostage Rescue Team, United States Marshalls, United States Secret Service, United States Park Police and Montgomery County S.W.A.T. Team.While Director of Emergency Services at Wesley Medical Center (Hattiesburg, MS), I realized the need to create a safe tourniquet for fingers and toes. This ultimately led to the development of the T-RING™, the World’s first safe and effective One-Size-Fits-All digit tourniquet. I have since developed the T-STRIP wound closure mesh, and the Topical Laceration Closure™ system.
