Dr. Craig D. Fisher is a Scientific Program Analyst at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Mental Health, Division of Translational Research, where he works in the DTR Office of the Director providing programmatic support for its extramural research program. Previously, Dr. Fisher spent almost eight years as Senior Science Policy Officer at the American Psychological Association where he promoted psychological science priorities on Capitol Hill and at the federal science agencies. Prior to APA, he spent two years as a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation, Office of Legislative and Public Affairs where he engaged key stakeholders about NSF-funded basic research. Before making a career shift into health and science policy, Dr. Fisher worked as a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Northern Virginia and at George Mason University’s Counseling and Psychological Services for which he was named a Washingtonian Magazine Top Therapist for the treatment of panic disorder. In his current role, Dr. Fisher has the opportunity to use his extensive clinical expertise and high-level science policy background to contribute to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of mental illnesses.
