I believe in the transformative power of media and communications to foster empowerment, preserve cultural heritage and drive social change within First Nations communities. Through my research work I aim to support First Nations People achieve equitable access and meaningful use of digital media and communications. This research is needed to address a significant digital gap between remote and regional First Nations People and other Australians. In this role Daniel introduced and led a range of new programs and initiatives, including the annual CONVERGE First Nations Media National Conference, First Nations Media Awards, inDigiMOB Digital Mentors program, re-development of indigiTUBE as a national content sharing platform, the Our Media Matters campaign, the First Nations Media Workplace Development Strategy, and the First Nations Media Archiving Strategy, among other projects.Daniel successfully led FNMA's change to a 70% Indigenous workforce, including succession to Arrernte woman Catherine Liddle as the new CEO from late 2019. He received a special Recognition of Contribution award at the 2019 First Nations Media Awards for his contribution to the sector over 19 years.

Daniel managed and developed the peak body for the remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media and communications industry from 2012-16, before leading its transition to national peak body First Nations Media Australia. IRCA supports the development of the industry through representation, member services and support, research and policy development, networking events and promotion and marketing. Daniel oversaw IRCA's growth from two staff to 12 staff across a range of projects. In this role, Daniel oversaw the annual Remote Indigenous Media Festival, the Remote Media Archiving Strategy and a number of national projects, including a Remote Audience Survey in 2016, Transmission Equipment and Satellite Radio upgrades. Being a passionate advocate for digital inclusion, Daniel played a key role in the establishment of the Broadband for the Bush Alliance and its annual forum and Indigenous Focus Day.
