Most of my research focuses on methodological statistics for differential equation models. When modelling the rates of change of inter-related system components, parameter estimation and model selection become complicated because a simple differential equation system can model a wide variety of behaviours and often models have parameters about which we have no information. Simple methods can therefore lead to misleading, biased or non-sensical results.
