My Major Achievements are:-• Taken responsibility for the assay development, cloning and protein engineering of a lightly resourced novel antibody project that focused on a novel biological entity allowing for its assessment as a potential new immunomodulatory therapeutic agent. Successfully cloned, humanised and expressed a wide variety of potential therapeutic antibodies including FDA approved Cimzia® that is currently used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and FDA approved Reslizumab® that causes a significant reduction in the frequency of asthma compared with those receiving placebo.• One of two scientists employed by a fast growing start up biotechnology company that focused on the rapid identification of novel soluble domains. My work involved using high throughput combinatorial domain hunting technology to aid the discovery and crystallography of various therapeutic agents. In this business development, role I created methods that made the company commercially viable and instigated a major collaborative project that resulted in the company having upwards of 78 employees.• Mentored Postdoctoral scientists and contributed many biological aspects to several small multidisciplinary teams. Completed antibody library platforn transfers to key phamceutical and biotechnology companies.• Promptly purified, crystallised, determined and reported the initial structure of a potential neurologically important molecule (GABARAP) permitting further rational functional analysis via protein engineering.• Effectively applied a range of expression technologies to target molecules using mammalian tissue culture, yeast cell culture and microbial systems, also presented data at board level of Europes largest biotechnology company at the time (Celltech Therapeutics).• Acquired a strong commercial awareness of the drug discovery business and was promoted during my time with my employer for contributions to challenging programmes.
