Global Head Of Change Communications
I provided leadership for the communications strategy and plan for the world’s largest business change programme, in around 40 countries across 10 businesses and functions and range of stakeholders - internal and external. This Global change programme included the implementation of Global SAP and connected applications and standardised global processes and standard organisation designs across Shell’s Downstream businesses. This enabled me to develop and hone my skills in driving cultural change and operational excellence. I developed strategy and direction, managing delivery of all the communications and leadership mobilisation activities, across internal and external stakeholders. I created advanced communications tools and platforms for maximum effectiveness, while ensuring consistency, repeatability and improvement – and creating a global standard for Shell. I created and implemented the approach for mobilising senior leadership to drive the implementation. I developed a co-ordinated approach for employee and industrial relations integrating all communications into a consistent change management framework. To achieve this I developed and created a team from scratch, with around 14 direct reports and around 25 indirect communications staff in country to deliver a cost effective and effective stakeholder management capability. The work I did became a core element of Shell’s approach to managing programmatic change.

In this role I initiated, developed and implemented ground breaking communications solutions for complex business change and integration issues, taking account of business interfaces and complexity, diverse cultural and business requirements, across the globe.
