I am the educational consultant, author, and trainer for a company called MaxScholar, as well as the Director of Levy Learning Center, a nationally-renowned tutoring center in South Florida. For over 30 years, I have remediated over 5,000 children—mostly with learning disabilities, especially dyslexia. I have been an Orton-Gillingham trainer for school districts all over the country.For the past twelve years, I have concentrated my efforts on developing a new approach to teaching reading, using a blended learning model of direct teaching, instructional materials, and educational software. The program is called “MaxScholar” and is an affordable solution for both schools and parents. It incorporates the Orton-Gillingham approach, as well as other strategies that I have developed. The program is a comprehensive, multi-sensory bundle of phonics instruction and reading comprehension strategies.Our proprietary software provides a new method for teaching reading at an affordable cost. The strength of this program is the online component for creating and reinforcing a foundation in phonics.
