Desiree is an experienced clinical gynaecologist who also has a Master in Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Desiree has worked internationally including for WHO in China at the start of the SARS 1 pandemic and has also worked in metropolitan rural and remote Australia. Desiree is committed to improving the health of women as well as advocating for children. Desiree has been a volunteer Board member for 8 years for Women's Health Victoria and continues to serve on the Boards of the Victorian Medical Womens Society, the Australian Federation of Medical Women and Pelvic Pain Victoria. She completed a 3 year term as Vice President of the Medical Women's International Association Western Pacific Region in July 2022. Desiree serves on the Council of AMA Victoria and has served on the State Committee of RANZCOG. Desiree completed the AICD Company Director's Course in 2022. Desiree has written a number of academic papers in the areas of cervical dysplasia and human papilloma virus as well as in the area of Menopause and speaks regularly on women and leadership in medicine as well as in the area of women’s pelvic pain. She was the inaugural senior lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for University of Melbourne’s Rural Clinical School in 1998 and maintains an interest in health care provision to rural and remote areas as well as low income nations. Desiree was awarded her AM for services to medicine.
