My early professional life saw me trying many different careers and companies looking for the perfect fit. After spending a good portion of my life raising two wonderful boys and supporting my partners in life, I went back to school for secretarial training, then for engineering, and finally for Business Management. Little did I know that this rather circuitous path would ignite a fire in me for innovating the HR organizational processes!Living on the French-Swiss border for 9 years, supporting my partner's work with the ATLAS experiment, I was given the incredible opportunity of co-running CERN's famous Hardronic Music Festival (with my partner). He, being the tech guru, handled all the sound and logistical issues and I handled the people! This was the largest group of people (all volunteers) I'd managed to date and I was fairly concerned I would not be able to handle it. I simply took what I'd done at AOL as an entry-level call center manager of giving a clear mission statement, outlined who would be in charge of what, helped facilitate committee creation and made sure all parties had the resources to complete their tasks and applied it to the grander scale of 100 volunteers and another 50 vendors with which I had to deal. Oh yes, AND doing this with an embarrassing lack of the french language under my belt added another dimension of difficulty to the entire process. Long story short? We pulled off a two-day event we chose to expand it from 1 to 2 days, allowing for more bands to get to play, made almost 50% more than any previous festival and got the HEADLINING spot for my band, to boot! We also introduced the Corn dog to many salivating and happy French, Swiss, and World Scientists and Engineers and their friends and families!I am convinced that I am on this earth, in part, to facilitate incredible working relationships, find and cultivate new talent that not only embraces the new paradigm shift in Company/Employee interactions of this new millennium, but also looks for and shapes innovative and progressive business practices several generations into the future.
