Seven years experience using elements of Scrum to coordinate an informal diverse group of engineers working on related projects. Highlights include:o Principal Investigator and participant for several Lockheed Martin IR&D projects exploring use of Probabilistic Graphical Models and Belief Propagation to mitigate hypothesis explosion in data fusion, and to incorporate big-data mining techniques into near-real time fusion. Applications included planning tool for sequencing commercial aircraft in heavily conflicted civil airspace, and strategies for on-the-fly surveillance planning to exploit known constraints on adversary deployment capability.o Systems Lead for DARPA ULTRA-Vis development from proposal through completion, including trade studies and customer presentation. Integrated see-through display, gesture glove, and visual odometry into collaborative Situational Awareness system for dismounted soldiers. Culminated in field demonstration of wearable systems to customer and end users at Hurlburt Field, Florida. o Systems Lead for Lockheed Martin Distributed Fusion Manager (DFM) system for FCS Level 1 Fusion. Developed loosely coupled distributed system to support reliable task performance with unreliable hardware and communication links. Developed technical documentation and multiple presentations and live demonstrations to customer and end users. Obtained U.S. Government TRL 5 assessment approximately 3 years after project inception.o Technical lead for Lockheed Martin Reverse Supply Chain IR&D exploring use of efficient operations simulation for logistics optimization. Demonstrated automated strategy generation for worldwide recovery of high-value “smart” shipping tags used on modular containers. Show less

Strengths in digital signal processing and control software development. o Systems Engineer for FPGA Universal Serial Turbo Code implementation for near-Shannon Limit error correction. Used Verilog implementation to provide a variety of code rates and modulation. Provided oversight of all development phases. Personally responsible for overall architecture including architectural trade studies and initial bit-true simulation. Device designed for installation on Ka-band SATCOM terminal to allow operation in high noise environments.o Systems Engineer for MIL-STD-188-182A DAMA waveform application on General Dynamics Digital Modular Radio (DMR) from kickoff through certification. Software-only implementation of modulation / demodulation, interleaving and error correction coding with tight time constraints. Used object-oriented techniques to define and execute low-risk incremental developmental goals. Complete functionality on target hardware obtained ahead of schedule and under budget. Project used as evidence of institutionalized process for Titan CMMI Level 2 certification.o Project engineer for LST-5d Embedded UHF SATCOM terminal closeout effort. Led small group to isolate, identify, and solve critical problems preventing product certification and delivery. Defined project goals and procedures to re-establish customer co-operation to achieve “4th letter” certification allowing continued product delivery.o Team lead for AFSATCOM communication protocol on AN/USC-42 (Mini-DAMA) SATCOM terminal. Contract requirement for seldom-used protocol initially prevented contract completion. Applied iterative prototype development techniques to complete AFSATCOM protocol with minimal resource expenditures. Project success allowed continued product delivery to US Government. Show less

Highlights include: o Project engineer for remote gas well production monitoring equipment. Collaborated with two other companies to autonomously collect, interpret, transmit, and log billing-quality data from network of dispersed well-heads. Designed hardware and software for chart recorder retrofit with no disruption to well production or billing process. Received U.S. Patent #5,565,862. Daily transmission of billing-quality data demonstrated in extended field test.o Designed, built, and delivered prototype automated cockpit display test equipment for GE Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS). This test equipment used a scanning CCD line array to verify accuracy and calibration for aircraft cockpit displays. Developed interferometric calibration process for commercial lead screws to meet system accuracy requirements at low cost.o Technical lead for UV Phenomenology project exploring use of optical signatures to infer physical properties of exoatmospheric objects. Implemented efficient Monte Carlo simulation of free-particle dynamics and chemistry to predict spectra of out gassing objects under solar illumination. Simulation supported numerous rocket-borne experiments.o Developed effectiveness drawdown models for space surveillance systems under antisatellite threat. Simulation exploited limitations in potential resources, timing and geometry to pre-calculate probability of destruction for all feasible attack opportunities. This strategy reduced the complexity of a simulation run to traversing a static decision tree and generated good statistical results in a complex environment. System used to support trade studies for space segment survivability. Show less
