The Institute for Business in Global Society (BiGS) was established to provide a research-based platform to address how business can play a role in improving some of society’s most pressing issues, especially climate change and inequality. We will gather a community of scholars, students, business leaders, and policymakers to explore the appropriate role for business to play.

+ Developed the business case for paying a living wage, a key input for the Accounting for Living Wage project led by Shift and the Capitals Coalition+ Built a scalable model to estimate the costs that businesses externalize onto society by paying below a living wage, based on the Health Utility of Income+ Worked with a team to build a list of indicators to improve the "S" in ESG inputs to investment decisions+ Interviewed business & human rights experts to compile a database of best practice examples of corporate action on identifying, mitigating, and remedying their impacts on people

Led a global team to develop programs around the world to build coalitions of multinational corporations and activists to collectively advocate for LGBT+ rights.+ Grew organization from 20 to 30 global corporations, increased annual budget 4x+ Launched and managed initiatives in countries around the world, which built national coalitions of over 20 companies to collectively advocate for LGBT+ rights, which led to at least three distinct national policy changes+ Played key role in landmark LGBT+ rights victories by activating business support, including organizing businesses to sway key legislators in the Taiwan marriage equality vote and coordinating seven C-suite executives to attend the first-ever meeting with the Vatican Secretary of State on support for LGBT+ rights + Led researchers in seven countries to produce research which found that LGBT+ discrimination cost national economies up to 1.7% of GDP, which were covered by Bloomberg, Reuters, and the Financial Times+ Presented research at the World Economic Forum in Davos and at conferences in India, Japan, Korea, Kenya, Barbados, Chile, the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany

Advised companies from various industries on strategic issues, performed big data analysis to guide recommendations, created various financial models, and regularly presented to senior clients.Worked on procurement strategy for a national healthcare provider, growth strategy for a small PE-backed automotive company, pricing strategy for a global consumer goods company, and supplier management strategy for a national retail chain. Additionally, helped launch the LGBT+ Allies program in McKinsey's Southern Offices and led the first Southern Office retreat for LGBT+ colleagues.
