The Los Angeles Police Department became the premier agency in recognizing that the average police officer was often under-equipped and under-trained to adequately deal with ever-increasingly dangerous situations. This developed into the modern tactical team that is now seen throughout the United States at local, state, and federal levels of law enforcement. Known variously as SWAT, SERT, STAR, ERT, or other nicknames, these teams of specially-trained officers now deal effectively with the most dangerous of incidents. Duties when required include barricaded gunmen, hostage negotiations, active shooters, and high-risk warrant service. Further specialties include extraordinary rescues, tracking, and dignitary protection.

What is RMTTA?The Rocky Mountain Tactical Team Association is dedicated to fostering cooperation between tactical teams and for the sharing of knowledge of new product ideas and innovative training. The association provides updated schedules and information for on-going law enforcement training for teams, commanders, negotiators, emergency medical personnel, and individual operators.The Rocky Mountain Tactical Team Association is a professional organization of police officers involved in tactical operations working in the Colorado-Wyoming region. Membership is open to law enforcement agencies (team membership) and to individuals currently employed by local, county, state, or federal departments or the military. Narcotics enforcement officers, paramedics, tactical negotiators, and dispatchers are also part of our growing organization. Corporate memberships for companies involved in tactical-related products are also welcome.
