I mastered coursework detailing advanced concepts in applied mathematics, as well as their applications and Python implementations, in order to instruct students and facilitate their own comprehension and mastery of those concepts. Each week, I provide individualized instruction and feedback to assist students in understanding and implementing their Senior-level coding labs.I also teach a Calculus lecture twice weekly.

I worked with a small team of data scientists to develop end-to-end data pipelines for BYU Enrollment Services, pulling ideas from graph theory, clustering algorithms, tree-based methods, and more to develop helpful tools for students, counselors, and administrators. Much of our work went toward tracking student success within each Major program and statistically identifying optimal Major Milestones for student success. This was a time of huge growth for me as we were given little established architecture and great freedom to organize code and develop models as seemed best. This resulted in heavy research and trial-and-error that proved to be invaluable experience for me.

My research team worked closely with the Rio de Janeiro branch of NCH Capital Inc. to validate proprietary metrics for stock cycle prediction using machine learning techniques. We also combined in-house data with data from BYU's Bloomberg terminal to identify features to be used in anomaly detection for growth-based portfolio investment strategies.

I taught small groups and tutored individual students in a variety of early college mathematics courses. I also participated in designing lessons and accompanying exercises and study material for College Algebra.

Wilmington, North Carolina

I participated in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU): Statistical Data Mining and Machine Learning in Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition at UNCW. I worked with a small, talented team of students and professors to develop novel features for detecting atrial fibrillation in electrocardiogram readings. I was able to achieve up to 97% accuracy using a random forest model with personally engineered features and compose a paper detailing methodology and results. I presented my work at multiple research conferences around the country.
