I am currently researching the ties between UNC and the fossil fuel industry under the rationale that if we no longer let big tobacco fund our medical school, we should no longer let big oil fund our environmental sciences. I have found millions of dollars in funding from the FF industry and other organizations linked to climate denial, research on climate and environment funded by FF companies, and many broken promises regarding Carolina's climate commitments. In the spring of 2024, I led outreach to coordinate Reclaim Earth Day actions at numerous universities across the Southeast US, catalyzing environmental organizations to take action and then providing support and training to leaders in planning. In the fall, I will be a part of the Fall Finance Fellowship, learning alongside students from across the country to successfully run the Green New Deal for UNC campaign.
