    This initial one-year special assignment turned into 4 years and an incredibly rich experience. I coached school leaders, deans and emerging leaders across the 8 KIPP schools in metro Atlanta. I had the unique opportunity to disseminate best practices of KIPP and other high-achieving charter schools in a collaboration with several district schools including BEST Academy & Coretta Scott King , single gender middle and high schools, Toomer and Bethune Elementary Schools. In the final year, I served as Advocacy Coordinator and learned the ins and outs of Georgia politics of education by attending all types of board meetings, legislative sessions and community meetings, conducted focus groups with parents from all 8 schools and developed an advocacy strategic plan for KIPP moving forward.

Project involved 6 schools in 3 districts (Decatur, Atlanta, Fulton) and university faculty who were paired with a schools and worked as fellows who worked to impact change in teacher education at Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta, Georgia State and Emory Universities and University of Georgia. The focus was on getting schools to use finds to build capacity of teachers and parents in their role increasing educational achievements among economically disenfranchised children of color.
