HTI is a network of consultants who aptly call themselves Catalysts. Our mission is to empower and grow organizations and the greater community through leadership coaching, facilitation, and professional development. Our core services are coaching, curriculum and courses. Current initiatives include facilitation of the Washington Cluster Planning for Atlanta Public Schools, leadership coaching for YELLS, Inc., facilitation of CREATE, a new teacher development program that provides student teachers with mentors, Critical Friends Groups for reflection and training in Compassion and Mindfulness operating in 2 charter and 3 district-run Atlanta Public Schools. We have recently conducted professional development for City of Atlanta Camp Best Friends staff, APS leaders, KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools and Boys and Girls Clubs of Chattahoochee Valley.

Greater Atlanta Area

This initial one-year special assignment turned into 4 years and an incredibly rich experience. I coached school leaders, deans and emerging leaders across the 8 KIPP schools in metro Atlanta. I had the unique opportunity to disseminate best practices of KIPP and other high-achieving charter schools in a collaboration with several district schools including BEST Academy & Coretta Scott King , single gender middle and high schools, Toomer and Bethune Elementary Schools. In the final year, I served as Advocacy Coordinator and learned the ins and outs of Georgia politics of education by attending all types of board meetings, legislative sessions and community meetings, conducted focus groups with parents from all 8 schools and developed an advocacy strategic plan for KIPP moving forward.

Attend monthly meetings and volunteer for events such as Clean-Up, Library Sales and social gatherings.

Developed curriculum, facilitators guide and facilitated a 1,2 and 3-day institutes for youth development professionals across the state of Georgia.

Led training for 100 AmeriCorps volunteers working in schools and coordinated a Community Leadership Institute in which community activists taught classes in a wide range of areas and the classes were captured as facilitator guides.

As you can see, I served in several capacities at CIS starting as an evaluator and expanding my role as Assistant Director of Programs where I worked to align the evaluation with the professional development and services actually offered by the staff placed in schools and to enhance the use of technology in internal communications and data collection. As I began to move towards my ultimate goal of producing television and continuing to write and produce my Family Music, I served as Artistic Director of ARCH Productions, an after-school theatre program operating in 3 high schools. I continue to serve as a consultant for the ARCH program.

Leadership Training & CoachingFacilitator, Washington Cluster Planning

Promoted the services that Turner Broadcasting offered to high schools and colleges in journalism. Students were invited to pitch story ideas to the CNNSB staff. Staff continued to provide support to students and their teachers as they produced their approved news packages which were often aired on CNN. Managed two initiatives, one with Unicef to train students in developing nations including Nigeria, Mexico, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan and one with Apple Computer to develop an online digital journalism curriculum Over 400 schools from around the world participated in the program.

Managed an urban school reform initiative funded by The Annenberg Institute's Challenge for School Reform. Was a brainchild of Dr. Lisa Delpit who was the founding director of the Center for Urban Educational Excellence. Project involved 6 schools in 3 districts (Decatur, Atlanta, Fulton) and university faculty who were paired with a schools and worked as fellows who worked to impact change in teacher education at Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta, Georgia State and Emory Universities and University of Georgia. The focus was on getting schools to use finds to build capacity of teachers and parents in their role increasing educational achievements among economically disenfranchised children of color.

Managed all youth programs including a weekly after school programming 3 elementary schools and one middle school.Supported Project Success alumni who were now young adults.Began strategic planning of the next phase of Project Success.Developed and coordinated special events.
