Implementing Agile ways of working in a traditionally managed UK Gov programme.

Setup new delivery teams and agile ways of working to excel at delivering high quality software solutions. This included enabling and facilitating Hackathons, Lean Innovation problem solving events and setup of SAFe framework ceremonies.

Working as a Lean Practitioner within external client sites to deliver sustainable change through the use of Lean principles using a systems based approach to applying tools and techniques. Focusing on developing the capability of others in both behavioural and technical skills via coaching and practical approaches to deliver significant operational improvement and cultural change.

Working as a Project Engineering Manager within Kautex Unipart Ltd to redesign the Fuel Tank Blowmoulding process, promoting flow and pull to add value in the eyes of the customer and improve operational efficiency. Through the use of Lean principles and Six Sigma problem solving methodologies I engaged and coached across a number of teams to help reduce defect rates and deliver sustainable operational benefits to a particular high volume product, whilst following PRINCE2 project management practice. As a result the business has realised better than industry standard defect levels and has implemented a number of best practice initiatives, which is to be rolled out across all products within the business in the coming year.

Working as a Contract Manager within Serck Heat Exchange I managed a number of contracts simultaneously, meeting and surpassing all Quality, Cost and Delivery targets. During the role I also helped develop and implement a number of Lean solutions to Project Management processes, helping to deliver substantial time and cost savings, driving cultural change.The role required a deep engineering and manufacturing understanding and allowed me to develop my skills within these areas by approving heat exchange designs and developing an internal hot oil test rig designed to test the life of a range of types of heat exchange units, whilst also focusing on project governance, customer service and management.As a result the business has been able to expand on current contracts within the rail industry, now has the ability to prove and test design modifications of heat exchange units through use of the internal hot oil test rig and has a number of standardised processes within quoting, project management and manufacturing processes.

Working within the marketing, recruitment and employability departments to assist with the organisation and coordinating of open-days, recruitment and various employment events; taking a proactive approach to supporting each teams objectives.Maintaining flexibility and managing a number of tasks across various departments I consulted with a number of external clients and colleagues from across the University in order to meet deadlines.

A member of University of Birmingham Air Squadron, working as an RAF Reservist as part of a team, taking an enthusiastic approach to participating, organising and coordinating field expeditions, charity events and adventurous training (AT) exercises.I was able to establishing myself within a military environment, taking an energetic approach to working within a focused team. Trusted in positions of responsibility to manage AT exercises. Successful in completing a range of field expeditions, flying lessons and leadership exercises.

Handling sensitive customer data and distributing to relevant departments in the workplace.With a focus on Lean processing, a logical problem solving approach was required to encourage changes to improve business processes to save time and costs. Over exceeding on set working targets and identifying improvements in the work process resulted in the award of a full contract and the implementation of my recommended changes to processes I worked within.
