This is a position in transition as the MWEB IT Services Department moves towards a decentralised services support approach instead of handling everything in-house. My current objectives include: - Finding practical solutions to support our aging .net provisioning infrastructure with an eye on replacing them with microservices in AWS. - Managing the development environments using AWS Opsworks for our scrum teams, includes day-to-day operations as well as data refreshes from our on-premise production databases with or without obfuscation, billing information etc. - Providing guidance to our Junior Support Analysts and Servicedesk Agents for incoming product support queries. Recently completed projects: - December 2017: DR test of the www.mweb.co.za homepage in AWS (Role: AWS setup guidance and configuration)- March to May 2018: DR test of SOLID (our main business system) to a linked-network DR location in Johannesburg (Role: Project Lead)- July to August 2018: Planning, setup, configuration and subsequent support of the new www.mweb.co.za running natively in AWS (Role: AWS Cloud Support)- August 2018 to present: Fine-tuning www.mweb.co.za running natively in AWS for cost-saving, improved caching, security and fault-tolerance (Role: AWS Cloud Support)As a side-note, our current infrastructure consists of an Angular-based CMS running on Linux calling REST (moving to JSON) APIs talking to our main business and billing system SOLID which is a farm of CentOS servers with mysql databases which in turn have dependencies on some legacy .net provisioning applications and WCF services running on Windows. It is our goal to have a much simpler combination of CMS > APIs > Billing System + Provisioning and this this my goal.

This is the internal escalation centre for customer or staff related issues that need to be escalated to various engineers. In hind-sight, starting out as a Service Desk agent was probably one of the greatest gifts I got as it taught me which department deals with which issue but more importantly I made connections with the people who could help me do my job more efficiently, i.e. directing tickets to the right person to get an issue resolved in the fastest time.
