Flare Recruitment went into administration in April 2011, so I was asked to follow one of the old directors in a new venture. The company started off as one name, then after a period of time it kept on changing its Ltd company name and kept on paying the temporary workers by different companies. All I can say is that this was the biggest mistake of my career to date, but i did learn from this experience. It did teach me what to do and what not to do in business.

Flare Recruitment was considered as a major player in the recruitment industry, but due the Options Group going into administration in 2011. When the Flare Recruitment went bust in 2011, I was asked to join a new venture with the old director of Flare, but at that time didn’t realise that he didn’t have any money. I worked as the Regional Driving Manager and provided a range of temporary, permanent and contract hire for drivers and industrial staff for large blue chip, medium tier and small organisations.On a day-to-day basis I work with a team of 18 recruitment consultants covering offices in Ipswich, Colchester, Clacton and Chelmsford.I employed over 100 lorry drivers and over 500 industrial staff on temporary contracts. It was a shame that Flare Recruitment went into administration, as it was a fun place to work and had some great people in the business, but after joining the business that the old director set up you could see he couldn’t manage his money problems.

I started Hunterskill Recruitment in Ipswich having no experience in Recruitment. When I first started at the agency I had to make lots of sales calls per day to get new business in for the agency, as the agency struggled to get new business in. On a day-to-day basis I worked as part of a team involved in all aspects of recruitment. Working in a target driven sales capacity I was required to liaise between candidates looking for work and clients seeking to employ staff.

I first joined National Deposit Friendly Society in July 2002, as a trainee financial advisor. After being with the company for six months I passed my financial planning exams and became a qualified financial advisor. As a financial adviser I provided clients with advice on financial matters, making recommendations on the ways to be utilise their money. The role involve researching the marketplace and advising clients on products and services available, ensuring they are aware of and understand those that best meet their needs and then securing a sale. I specialise in a particular products, depending on my clients needs, e.g. selling employee pensions schemes to companies or offering mortgage, pension, insurance and giving investment advice to private clients.

I started as a sales advisor selling motor insurance to the public from incoming calls. I was promoted after six months to a trainee underwriter and team leader, which meant supervising 20 call centre staff. As a trainee Insurance underwriter I would decide if applications for insurance cover (risks) should be accepted and if so, what the terms of that acceptance are. I would also assess risks according to the likelihood of claim being made by weighing up a number of factors and asking for detailed information from prospective clients (policyholders). The aim was to minimise losses for their company and help to make a profit. The reason why I left Direct Motorline was to join National Deposit Society as a trainee financial advisor.
