Using my background as a multidisciplinary scientist working on various projects across microfluidics, cell biology, CAR T-cell research, molecular biology and performing product demonstrations to customers/partners. While also developing novel techniques and devices for cell transfection and impedance flow cytometry.

Awarded an SFI Industrial R&D Industrial Fellowship - March 2022 (12 Month)Developing a novel microfluidic, rapid, label and amplification free SARS-CoV-2 detection assay. Impedance detection technology is employed to detect micro bead aggregation triggered by the interaction between SARS-CoV-2 surface proteins and human ACE-2 receptors.

Developing a novel microRNA nano-mechanical detection system for cancer and liver injury diagnostics.

After completing a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) from Maynooth University I undertook a physics Ph.D. working as part of the Nanobio group under Prof. Martin Hegner in Trinity College Dublin. In this multidisciplinary group nanomechanical diagnostic devices are developed and single molecule research is performed. My project was to develop an automatic microRNA diagnostic system, with the capability to detect multiple biomarkers from non purified samples. During this project I acquired numerous lab skills including biological protocols, instrumentation design and development, micro fluidics, electronics and gained software experience with Origin, LabVIEW, LaTeX and Solidworks.
