Research Fellow
In my role as a Research Fellow at Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute, I led projects focused on neural tissue engineering, and was part of a team carrying out electrophysiological screening of pain pharmaceuticals. Collaborating with Grünenthal Pharmaceuticals, I contributed to cutting-edge research in the field of neuroscience, developing valuable skills in project management and data analysis.
Visiting Research Fellow - Mea Electrophysiology And Biosignal Processing
In my role as a Visiting Research Fellow in Multi Electrode Array Electrophysiology and Biosignal Processing at the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute, I transferred knowledge and systems that I developed in Melbourne to facilitate cutting-edge research projects across institutes. By collaborating with teams in Melbourne and University of Wollongong, I ensured the successful execution of research initiatives, implementing innovative solutions to enhance research methods for impactful research advancements.
Arc-Aces Communications Committee, 2016
Appointed as a member of the communications committee for ARC-ACES for 2016, to assist in reviewing and planning the communications activities of the centre, both internally and externally.
Research Fellow
As a Research Fellow, I ran the Multi Electrode Array Platform and spearheaded projects on neural and muscle tissue engineering, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, across multiple institutes, to develop novel methods for electrophysiological investigations in the fields of neurology and orthopaedics. As part of the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery, I was often involved in outreach programs, presenting research platform and projects to a wide audience of scientists, engineers, clinicians, government officials and the general public.
Arc-Aces Equity And Diversity Action Committee
Research Fellow - Synthetic Biosystems And Mea Electrophysiology
As a Research Fellow at St Vincent's Hospital, through Melbourne University, I spearheaded projects on neural and muscle tissue engineering, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, across multiple institutes, to develop novel methods for electrophysiological investigations in the fields of neurology and orthopaedics. I managed the Multi Electrode Array system and projects, developed novel 3D culture methods for functional electrophysiological interrogation, and managed our status as a reference laboratory for Multi Channel Systems (Germany). As part of the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery, I was often involved in outreach programs, presenting research platform and projects to a wide audience of scientists, engineers, clinicians, government officials and the general public.
Arc-Aces Executive Committee Member
Appointed as junior member of the ARC-ACES Executive Committee for 2017. The Executive Committee is responsible for developing and reviewing the overall direction and performance of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science.
Research Engineer
My position involved software and hardware design and development for somatosensory and auditory sensory neuroscience laboratories, primarily developing systems for single-unit and cluster extracellular electrophysiological recording and analysis. I specialised in real-time neuroscience-specific embedded systems, including Spike2 (Cambridge Electronic Devices) and Tucker Davis Technologies systems. My tasks at Monash included training staff and students in the use of these systems, as well as developing the systems in consultation with researchers to ensure maximum efficiency and flexibility in data acquisition and analysis. I have trained both undergraduate and postgraduate physiology and engineering students in various programming languages to enable them to develop software for their own projects. The student projects were aimed toward developing various software suites for psychophysical research, image and signal processing, and optimising electrophysiological data analysis.
Research Assistant - Hugh Williamson Gait Laboratory
In the final year of my undergraduate degree, I worked on a research project within the Gait Laboratory at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. This project involved modelling oxygen use in children during walking, as well as developing and validating a method for normalising such data for the individual’s age, weight, and height. The primary aim of this project was to develop a method to assess efficiency of a child's walking pattern before and after surgical intervention that was independent of the natural changes in walking efficiency as a child grows.
