MV Plastics manufacture and development of high performance acrylic polymers for the dental, medical and industrial industries. I worked for MV for 1 year and whilst I was here I managed the technical team covering QC, Quality Systems, R&D and Process Chemistry. Specific tasks within this team were performing QC Testing, to drive R&D and customer collaborations, maintaining robust quality systems for ISO9001 and ISO13485, and the 10,000L scale manufacturing of polymers via Suspension Polymerisation, including any troubleshooting and optimisation related to this manufacturing. As this was a small business, I also managed production planning.

A Visiting Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Glasgow (2016-2018) as completion of the final half of my PhD.

• 12-month placement as an R&D chemist in The Netherlands in a multidisciplinary process chemistry team. A 4th year MChem distance learning curriculum was followed in parallel with full-time work, this developed efficiency and time management skills.• Executed high-throughput screening experiments to optimise conditions for the production of epichlorohydrin, a main component of epoxy resins.• Scaled up and optimised the epichlorohydrin synthesis with the use of 1-litre automated reaction vessels run in parallel. These reactors used flow systems and online FTIR analysis.
