Assigned to 2 schools in a system with 49,000 students. Duties included, but not limited to: psychological evaluations to identity Special Education needs; prepared Eligibility Reports and responsible for all components (developmental history, medical, academic, Speech and Language, OT, and PT); functional behavioral analysis and behavioral intervention plans; and attend Student Services team meetings and parent conferences.

Major duties involve intervention to prevent psychiatric hospitalizations, reduce high medical utilization, and prevent unnecessary arrests and incarcerations. I work on Mobile Outreach and Crisis Teams to provide 24/7 outreach and crisis services in Bennington county. Implementing crisis work requires teamwork with multiple providers, law enforcement and other agencies in the community and work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in a constantly changing atmosphere.

Associate Professor of Psychology - Undergraduate and Graduate studies

Teach undergraduate courses in psychology with over 100 students per semester studying as majors or minors in the discipline; teach in the graduate Counseling program 16 students per semester; assigned to the Faculty Hiring Committee which meets Fall semester to review candidates for employment positions in the psychology unit of the SAPE Department (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology & Egyptology); and student advising twice yearly.

A preceptor is an advanced degreed professional clinician who provides clinical supervision and mentoring to alcohol and drug counselors. The word "preceptor" is synonymous with "mentor." Each preceptor works as an expert consultant and typically provides weekly support to his or her assigned counselors. The preceptor offers staff development, training, technical assistance, and quality control through the development of an individualized tutorial relationship with each counselor. It is a unique program of professional growth and development for each counselor being supervised to provide continuing education and supervision to counselor/trainees in substance abuse counseling. Teach courses in small groups to help counselors achieve ADC Level I & II and NCE certifications; community outreach services for military families regarding issues related to substance use, dependency; and report to LCDR Lawrence for case management and follow-up services.

Oversee all facets of the Graduate Program in Counseling Psychology and School Counseling including, but not limited to: work effectively with a small team of professors (full and adjunct); plan Academic yearly schedule of graduate courses and coordinate course schedules with the Director of Undergraduate studies; develop undergraduate and postgraduate courses in counseling; supervise students’ work experience in clinical, school and community settings in a multi-cultural context; maintain a department budget; and present workshops to community agencies on a myriad of topics. In addition provided direct counseling services (individual & group) to a multicultural student population; career counseling and student advisor for degree matriculation, crisis intervention and case management.Provide part-time graduate/undergraduate instruction in counseling psychology in all areas of psychology to a diverse, multicultural and military student group. Advised 30 graduate students concerning progress toward credit completion; supervise practicum/internship placements (DoDD schools, FAP & CAP), chair/second reader for students on research and thesis writing/preparation for oral defense. Develop graduate curriculum for new graduate courses (i.e., growth/development, family/multicultural, abuse/neglect, victims advocacy counseling). Prepare/assist scoring comprehensive exit examinations for Advancement to Candidacy students matriculating for degree of specialty.Coordinated research at the Educational and Development Intervention Services (EDIS) program with Dr. Doreen Tanenbaum; UMUC & SARD representative for the Okinawa Interagency Coordinating Council (OICC); and involved with ongoing research at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) Promotion Corporation in the Human Developmental Neurobiology Unit of the Children’s Research Centre.

The track features a summer thoroughbred racing season, a fall harness racing season, and an ever growing year-round slate of special events.Eighty percent of the summer thoroughbred races are held over the Secretariat Turf Course, which at 180 feet wide, is the widest grass surface of any track in North America. The 1¼ mile dirt track is the country’s second largest, next to Belmont’s. The large dirt track enables harness horses to pace or trot a one mile distance while encountering just one turn, the only track anywhere to offer this unique configuration.The Virginia Derby is Colonial’s annual showcase event. The 2011 Virginia Derby was held mid July, the $600,000 Grade II event draws over 9,000 fans to the New Kent oval. Thoroughbred racing’s top three year old turf horses, along with the sport’s top jockeys and trainers compete 1¼ miles in the Virginia Derby. The $500,000 Grade II Colonial Turf Cup, a Derby prep race of sorts, was held June 18, 2011.
