Performed duties as a Systems Administrator in an enterprise environment of 5000 users and over 100 servers. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the department’s Windows 2003/2008 network servers. Maintained server application software such as IIS, SharePoint 2010 and SQL 2008 among many other. Also maintained a Health Services Pharmacy distribution/tracking web application in accordance with HIPAA privacy rules. Maintained uptime, performed maintenance/patching, reviewed logs and reported status of all servers. Installed, patched, and maintained the department’s server software applications such as SQL, SharePoint, and IIS. Supported many other applications such as Exchange and Sonic Firewall. Instrumental in creating the department’s desktop imaging program which standardized all desktop PC installs. Provided application subject matter expertise for the Active Directory, SharePoint 2010, Altiris & WSUS implementations. Developed technical documentation for all SME applications for support staff as well as on-line training manuals for end-users for new applications such as SharePoint. Worked extensively with the Active Directory in a 5000 user environment. Created and maintained user accounts, network shares, group and folder permissions and password changes. Maintained, patched, repaired 3400 networked desktop PC’s in a domain environment. Used remote management tools such as Altiris, Group Policy, scripting, Symantec Endpoint Protections and Windows Update Server to save time to update virus definitions, patches, install/deploy new or updated software. Acted as 2nd level support to resolve user requests that could not be solved by the help desk or other support staff. I was commonly known as the “go to guy” that was sought out by other support staff as a local expert that could solve most technical issues. Set up file transfer system using WSFTP to transfer secure data to/from other state and county agencies.

Provided desktop and server support and maintenance in a networked environment. Computer repair. Served as training officer for the Technical Communications Unit. Awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for bringing the whole unit to from 30 percent to 100 percent readiness for deployment by coordinating training requirements for unit members and performing classroom and lab exercises using CompTia A+ courseware. Installed a client/server network at the reserve center by running Cat 5 cable, terminating twisted pair connectors to a switch, installing Windows 2000 server OS and Active Directory, creating user accounts with roaming profiles and setting up files and printer sharing. This work saved the unit over $6500 and I was awarded a second Navy Achievement medal as well as being awarded Sailor of the Year for the reserve center.
