Coordination of laboratory & office utilisation & renovations, staff liaison, site safety & security, compliance, liaison with property services and IT, emergency management, hosting VIP’s and provision of staff amenities all fall within this role. I chair the OHSE committee - safety will always be interesting when staff work with many different types hazard: high power lasers, radiation, cryogenics, asphyxiants, chemicals, high voltage, pressure, vacuum, nanotechnology, magnetic fields, toxic/infectious samples, flammable or oxygen sensitive materials. It is possible and expected that we (and our tenants) work without compromising safety - and we take safety *very* seriously. I liaise with the main site tenants: the National Measurement Institute on joint facilities and operations as well as other tenants such as Macquarie University.Other activities include public open days, communication with ex-staff (CSIRO Alumni), participation with the organising committees of the social club and the CSIRO staff benevolent fund.
