David’s career in the hotel industry spans almost 40 years including extensive executive management roles for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. which spanned head of finance, acquisitions and development and governance. Having established the Hotel, Tourism & Leisure cluster within nem Australasia in 2013, David has now taken on the role of Managing Director of Axsia and applies his skills consulting on strategy, concept development and feasibility, operator selection, commercial deal negotiation, asset optimisation, acquisition due diligence and disposal. David is a CPA with a degree in hotel management from Victoria University.

In this role I was responsible for leading and managing Starwood's development and growth objectives across the Australia, NZ and Pacific region. During my time in this role, Starwood signed six new hotel management agreements (including Sheraton Melbourne and Sheraton New Caledonia both due to open in 2014) and renewed existing contracts for another six hotels. These new signings and renewals contributed significant earnings for the company.

In this role I was responsible for leading the finance function for all Starwood managed, owned and leased hotels and resorts in the Australia, NZ and Pacific region. In 2004, my last full year in this role, I won the award for Business Partner of the Year for Starwood's Asia Pacific division.

In this role I was responsible for leading the finance function for all Starwood managed hotels and resorts across Indonesia. While in this role, I was nominated by the President of Starwood's Asia Pacific division for the Starwood Global Chairman's award which recognises significant contributions to the company by individuals.
