Dr. Sonja Simpson is the Assistant Director of Field Operations with the Ohio Department of Transportation. All 12 Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) districts and two divisions within ODOT Central Office (Operations Division and Facilities & Equipment Management Division) fall under the direction and guidance of the Assistant Director of Field Operations.

ODOT District 5 is a team of more than 350 employees who work together to maintain nearly 3,731 miles of U.S. and State highways across a seven-county area in east/central Ohio which includes Coshocton, Fairfield, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Muskingum and Perry counties. We maintain four Macro-Corridors within the district: Interstate 70, Interstate 77, US Route 33, SR 161, SR37 and SR16. District 5 is also responsible for 1,094 bridges and 6 rest areas within the district.

The Operations Division includes the offices of Aviation Operations, Traffic Operations, Maintenance Operations, and the Emergency Operations section.
