Profile bio

About Anissa Sorokin, Ph.D.

I'm the daughter of an interpreter. Though I never mastered my father's native language as well as I would have liked to, I did learn a lot about the importance of building bridges between cultures. In my role as Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships for a higher education company, I use my professional experiences to help members of corporate and academic communities understand each other and work towards common goals.I joke that I'm a recovering academic, but higher education is still my passion. My time as a professor taught me important lessons about aligning goals, setting clear expectations, ensuring people have access to the resources they need to be successful, offering constructive feedback, and--most importantly--listening to understand. My client relationships are centered on accountability, transparency, and trust.Though I don't hold an academic job anymore, I use the skills I developed as a faculty member every day. Specifically, I draw on my research and data analysis abilities, strategic communication expertise, and large, remote team management experience to help both my company and clients achieve their goals. When I'm not working, I'm probably playing music with friends, experimenting in the kitchen, or hanging out with two mischievous little boys. I'm always excited to meet new folks, so don't hesitate to connect!

Listed skills include Higher Education, Teaching, Research, Student Development, and 40 others.
