About Thomas Winkler, Dr.Rer.Nat.
I’m a physicist and innovation leader with a passion for developing new technologies and turning research into practical applications. Over the past six years since finishing my PhD, I’ve focused on cross-disciplinary R&D in the high-tech sectors and materials and optical sciences, working on projects from initial concepts to implementation. In my current role as a Systems Engineer at Terma A/S, I focus on leading innovation initiatives and research projects in the Multi Domain Systems group. My work has expanded beyond traditional systems engineering to include driving AI and software-focused projects. I’ve also been involved in developing proof-of-concept demonstrators and guiding strategic innovation efforts across the team. While much of my work now revolves around AI and software, I still have a strong interest in cutting-edge technologies that include hardware like optics and advanced materials. I enjoy working where software and hardware intersect to create meaningful solutions. Before this, I worked as a researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge, contributing to Project Silica, a pioneering initiative focused on sustainable data storage technology.I’m particularly interested in fostering collaboration across teams and making complex projects work smoothly. If you’re interested in connecting about research, innovation, or tech-focused projects, I’d be happy to chat.
