Energy Procurement Manager
As Procurement Manager I am responsible for tendering and contracting all known Carillion Gas and Electric Supplies to the group contract with our preferred supplier to achieve the best spend of the budget outlined by PLC, and arrange for metering to new connections. This involves keeping track of the energy market and news. Once contracted, it is my responsibility to maintain the contract which is worth in excess of £3.2 million, and the working relationship with our contract managers within the suppliers. Within my role I am responsible for ad hoc, monthly and yearly reports regards Carillion’s spend and consumption on unregulated Utilities for presentation at all levels.Achievements Increased emphasis on reporting has led to greater customer communication, increasing the coverage and notability of Carillion Energy Bureau. Coverage now stands at greater than 90%. Using critical path analysis and communicating with suppliers, I have reduced lead times of registrations from 6-8 weeks to 4-6 weeks, increasing efficiency for Carillion projects. Realised savings in excess of £140,000 in 2010 for Carillion Estates, owing to validation of invoicing and negotiation of contract and supply terms. Having realised the potential for cost savings through sourcing and negotiating with new suppliers, I have identified the possibility of saving the company £60,000-100,000 per annum through strategic partnerships. Extending my knowledge of M&T, working closely with Carillion’s M&T software provider and the database manager to assist Carillion project teams determine best course of actions for their utilities and spend.
