I am a Higher Education Professional with twenty-five+ years of experience within a diverse, inclusive educational environment. I have extensive administrative & supervisory experience within Higher Education, serving successfully as Director of three different Programs at a University (the Career Center, Continuing Education & Aquatics program. I also began and oversaw a Certified Pearson Vue Testing Center on the same campus).Currently, I assist 8 Workforce Programs, based on the Plano campus, and their students, and provide services related to Student Recruitment, Retention and Completion (3 Program Goals), Student Career Development, Workforce/Academic Leadership, and Student referrals for specific services.And like most of my colleagues, I'm involved with helping students, supporting Associate Deans, the Deans and sometimes the Faculty, from counseling to tour guide to making copies for Committee meetings. I am a liaison for the student, and assist with helping those students get through their first two years of college and into a career or a four year school. I work to insure positive, open communication, which is not always welcomed and, help students overcome obstacles that block success. I provide personal counseling, limited Academic Advising, tracking of student progress within the students' degree plans. The primary goal is to help the student remain focused on their Academic and/or Professional Goals and on to completion of a Certificate or the two year degree.I perform curriculum research and often recommend curriculum updates for the Workforce Programs I cover. I participate in Advisory Committee meetings (committees are made up of professionals within a particular Workforce Industry), provide counsel to Faculty in dealing with student issues/conflicts and provide specific data for Department Chairs (Discipline Leads), Deans, Associate Deans, such as student enrollment, completion and graduation numbers. This is a job that offers many and varied opportunities for me to assist those with whom I work, including providing expertise in areas such as general (mental health) counseling (and referrals, as mentioned), interpersonal relationships, team building, and especially, career development.I am a former LPC/LMFT/NCC/Marriage, Family & Clinical Therapist (inpatient/outpatient), former director/supervisor of 3 different University departments and have I have 3 years at the University level and one semester at the Community College level.
