Manager Logistics Operations
Palo Alto, Ca, Us
I led multi-site operations (Oregon & California) supporting New Product Introduction and volume manufacturing. I oversaw: Chemical Operations, Inventory Control, Planning, Procurement, and Logistics. My responsibilities included the management of a budget of $15 million annually ($4.5 for Labor, $10.5 for materials). My organization operated on a 7 X 24 basis, consisting of Program Managers, Supervisors, Business/Logistics Analysts, Planners, Buyers, and Material Handlers. This team of over 120 individuals provided order fulfillment, incoming and outbound logistics, warehousing, material & inventory management, chemical purchasing and handling, supplier & contract management, MRO, and engineering support.Chemical Operations: procure production chemicals for the fabs; maintained the warehousing; delivered all chemicals; collect/store/ship hazardous chemical waste; and maintain physical/system inventories.Inventory Management: tracked all material physically/systematically; conducted regular cycle counts in the warehouses, production lines, and prototype areas; developed/documented processes to manage materials (on-site & at third party vendors); and, provided training on processes & systems.Planning: materials requirement planning for production/prototype.Procurement: providing all production chemicals; providing all consumables for production; sourcing third party suppliers; and, contract management.Logistics: effective management of all in-bound/out-bound materials; mixed use of company staff & third party service providers; use of manual & automated warehousing; maintained all service equipment; and represented Logistics in Program Teams. My leadership for transformation started with a vision and followed through with analysis, development, implementation, and stabilization. Warehouse & logistics efficiency improved 30%, on-hand chemical inventory has decreased by 20%, and indirect material costs (consumables) meet targeted savings.
