Failed Thrift Shutdown – Led all activities to shutdown the operations and facilities of five failed thrifts recently acquired from the RTC and transfer the desired assets to the parent operation. Responsibilities included: sale of non-desired assets; transfer of physical and data inventory to the parent operation; office closure; staff elimination or transfer; development of in-house conversion software for various source systems; negotiation with vendors for the assignment or elimination of services; and preparation of the relevant operations to handle the transferred business.Loan Servicing System Conversion – Developed the business case for converting a diverse 250,000 mortgage loan portfolio from a system that had just been installed less than two years prior. Additionally, led the conversion effort, which included: operational and organizational changes; staff training; policy and procedure development; data conversion; system interfaces to loan origination, capital markets general ledger, etc.; ad-hoc reporting tool selection/implementation; and custom billing statements, notices and management reports.Litigation Support – Developed a litigation support function to address numerous class action and individual lawsuits. Responsibilities included: co-developing litigation strategy with internal and external counsel; negotiating settlement terms; building systems to identify class members and generate the appropriate refunds; providing testimony as to industry and firm-specific practices; and preparing various business lines to handle class member and news media questions.Acquisition of Servicing Rights – Led the financial, operational and system functions in supporting portfolio acquisitions. Responsibilities included: portfolio valuation; proposal preparation; operational due diligence; contract negotiation; system conversion; physical loan transfer; and operational assimilation.
