I excel at designing multi-rate digital filters and sample rate converters that achieve phenomenal MCPS performance. I am very comfortable squeezing every last drop of performance out of DSP applications on VLSI/SIMD processor architectures. Most of my work has been for embedded architectures.Good experience with speech processing, adaptive filters for noise removal, echo cancellation, and beamforming.I have lots of experience working with both FIR and IIR filters, and audio pipeline processing, including dynamic range control, biquadratic equalization filters, like PEQ, shelf, low pass, high pass, etc. I also have written bass boost, and perceptual bass boost algorithms, DC removal, PDM mic equalization, ramping volume controls.Lots of porting and optimization experience with 3rd party codecs, virtualizers, and other algorithms, either to fixed or floating point targets. I also have done several ports from MATLAB code.Good experience writing algorithms for CAD, and behavioral simulation of microprocessors. Experience designing DSP accelerators using TIE or Verilog.Strong knowledge and experience with FFT, 1D, 2D DCTs and psycho-acoustic compression techniques.
Listed skills include Embedded Systems, Digital Signal Processors, Digital Signal Processing, Embedded Software, and 18 others.

Chandler, Az
DSP Audio Architect / LeadUsing advanced IIR and multi-rate techniques, coupled with no holds barred VLIW and SIMD optimization, provided industry busting filters and sample rate converters, for example 44.1K to 96K in under 6 MCPS.Applied DSP knowledge to extend our DSP instruction set, reducing the run time of filters and AEC algorithms substantially.SET-TOP BoxesWrote algorithms for speech processing and audio rendering for set top boxes - including Acoustic Echo Cancellers, beamformers, Wiener Filters to remove fan noise, sample rate conversion, pipeline audio processing such as PEQ and shelf filters, dynamic range controls, limiters, etc.Worked with watermark techniques.Ported and highly optimized several third party IP solutions from DTS and Dolby and other audio codecs, including DTS Neural.Developed automated video quality metrics that could be used to automatically turn bandwidth down for less complex frames while boosting the BW for more detailed frames. Solution was highly complex, and I used 9 parallel TI DSPs to run the frames in real time.

Lead team to develop embedded assembler/linker tools for a major US automotive customer. Wrote post-optimizer to squeeze out performance. Visited customer site near Detroit to work with and address customer issues with tools.Developed portable IrDA protocol stack and ported to several pagers, including Motorola's Page Writer. Worked with customers to integrate and adapt solution to their software stack.Designed and performed layout for CMOS DSP Design, solved a major production issue regarding latch-up.

Wrote assembler/linker and register level / memory simulator in GUI for our rad hard microprocessor. Used by NASA to develop code for the MARS surveyor program.Wrote behavioral simulator improving turn around time by 40x, enabled engineers to get results over a coffee break, instead of overnight.Simulators, Assemblers/Linkers, Logic Synthesis
