My research was understanding social tolerance of white-tailed deer in Saskatchewan: this involved creating, organizing, and distributing a province-wide mail survey to rural landowners in addition to conducting seven in-person interviews with different stakeholders to assess the degree to which they value deer. This was done in response to landowner concerns about deer damage to property.Skills and experience:-I was the first student in my program to be accepted for the full award amount for the Saskatchewan Fish and Wildlife Development Fund grant ($5,000)-Experience drafting and tracking a budget, and keeping records of purchases-Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and working with databases and large datasets-Experience with rangeland, farmland, and wetland vegetation monitoring- Experience interpreting complex technical forms and research literature (natural and social sciences)-Working knowledge of GIS and handheld GPS devices-I provided recommendations based on my research results to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment for consideration in future management plans. I was asked to present my findings at their Wildlife Management Unit meeting in the fall of 2018
