I'm a 37-year-old guy who has had a passion for technology since the age of 10. That's when I got my first prebuilt computer. The next computer I built myself and my passion for technology began.Ever since then, I've been fascinated with technology. I've kept up with the technological advances relating to personal computing and mobile devices. My passion led to me teaching myself a lot when it comes to computer hardware and troubleshooting. While my passion for technology grew, so did my passion for art. Before I was old enough to work for an employer, I created graphic art for various clients and built many personal websites. I taught myself how to use Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Acrobat Pro. I also learned basic CCS and HTML so I could build websites back in the late 1990s.Ever since I was old enough to work, I did. My first job was as a cashier at a fast-food restaurant while finishing high school. As I started college, I began working at various warehouses and learned a lot about inventory management and shipping and receiving.Personal difficulties in my life caused me to leave college before completing my Associate's Degree, but I kept working and found myself at various retail locations around New York City. My background in inventory management helped out and I also began to learn more about the procurement side of things. After working at various retail stores, the experience I gained throughout the years was able to be put to use, and I found myself managing a warehouse at a small start-up sound and video company in NYC.After leaving that company, I took the time to stay at home with my daughter during her younger years. 1.5 years later, I entered back into the workforce, this time at Amazon as a Personal Shopper while I looked for something more long-term. However, I was only at Amazon for a few months before COVID ravaged the world, and was laid off in April 2020.As some of the COVID restrictions began to be lifted, I started looking for work again. I applied for a Shipping & Receiving Specialist position at the New York Blood Center. After being hired, I worked on-site during the later years of COVID-19 and made improvements to the antiquated way the receiving process was being implemented. Two years later, I'm still with NYBC, now training as a Procurement Specialist, where I can use my background in inventory management and technological skills to my advantage. What I thought would be just another job ended up being a career with lots of advancement opportunities that allow me to share my strengths with my department.

I work as a Shipping & Receiving Specialist. I'm responsible for receiving packages, verifying their contents, and delivering them to the proper recipient in a timely manner. I handle a wide variety of goods ranging from medical and scientific materials to electronics and various forms of technology.I work on the computer daily using the Oracle application to receive the physical products digitally. This generates receipts for our Purchasing and Accounting departments to charge the proper client for the product they ordered. I also use the Microsoft Office suite on a daily basis creating documents in Word and Excel and using Outlook and Teams to message and communicate with co-workers.I also created the general shipping and receiving guide our organization uses to train new employees in the position. It teaches them the proper ways to receive packages and how to use Oracle to receive goods and generate receipts.
